I'm tired of my computer telling me to get an antivirus even though I have lots of anti spyware/adware programs. Can you guys recommend to me some fr33 antiviruses? Which ever you think is the best.
But by fr33, not cr4cked to make it fr33.

Are fr33 antivirus programs of any good?
I mean, can they really hold the line?
If U dont want to pay for it, there is the fr33 McAfee on pirates. No crack, unlimited, completely clean, just install and U get all the attention (updates, customer service, etc.) that comes with a paid copy.

Avira is one of the best antiviruses for detection, light on resources, etc.
I personally use Kaspersky 8, it's not fr.ee but it didn't cost a fortune either...I like this one more than any of the others I used...

I decided to go with AVG because that's what I was using on my old PC. Can anyone tell me why it my Resident Sheild Randomly Deactivates? I keep getting security warnings and it's very annoying. I even have it set to on and ignore if it is off, but still they keep flashing at me.

I'm on vista.

I like AVG best. The Norton that came with my computer was so annoying that I removed it and put on AVG.
For spyware I like Spybot, but it gets annoying too, so CA is good too.

AVG or avast seem to work well on my laptop, though i must admit to using the paid version of Mcafee on my desktop.

Ugh, McAfee suuuuuuuuuucks.
It slows down computers SO much, and for barely any protection gain.

Avira > Fr33
Kaspersky > paid

I like AVG the best, my computer is almost 3 years old and still running smoothly. Lots of stuff has been detected and cleaned as well. People often bring me their PC's, I install it (if possible) and when its finished the computer is running good again.
